WHEN it comes to total body wellness, Doux Visage has gotten the formula down pat. Featuring a unique combination of Western and Eastern medical theories, each person gets an individualised treatment plan drawn up to ensure optimal health and wellness.
This formula and approach has proven to be effective as testified by the growth of the company through the years.
Starting from a humble beginning as a small salon in July 2002, Doux Visage has expanded today to two shoplots to cater to a growing clientele.
The person at the helm of this success is Dr Jenny Goh, PhD (Acupuncturist, TCM Practitioner). With 21 years of experience in the beauty industry, Dr Goh is a firm believer that it is more effective to address health issues both internally and externally and ventured into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – of which she has 15 years of experience – as she feels this approach is a more effective treatment that works from the inside out.
Effective treatment plan
The incorporation of Western technology into Eastern therapy is done to offer a more targeted and effective treatment plan.
Having graduated with her PhD (TCM, Acupuncturist) focusing on hormones, stroke, cancer, cardiovascular and skin disease in June 23, Dr Goh is now under-taking her second PhD in TCM (Chinese Medicine) with a focus on cancer, dietetics and cardiovascular to continuously upgrade her skills and knowledge.
The treatments administered at Doux Visage are non-invasive and uses only natural products.
Dr Goh says, “We believe the body has its own natural healing process. Therefore, what we do here is stimulate this healing process, rather than rely on medication.”
Dr Goh adds that in her profession, some clients feel more at ease being treated with TCM rather than just acupuncture alone.
She comments that after incorporating both Western and TCM theories in her treatment plans, she observes faster recovery process among her clients, “For example, we can see immediate improvement in clients experiencing breakout problems in just one treatment, as well as in body or slimming treatments.”
Her many long-term clients are a testament to the efficacy of the treatments.
Dr Goh says, “As we have many clients who have been with us for years, we are able to observe their progression at various age brackets. Their treatment plan is then tailored accordingly to their needs, as each person’s concerns and needs are different at various stages of life.”
She added that many of her clients come to her via word-of-mouth referral.
The treatment plan is drawn up after a thorough consultation to discuss a client’s concerns. This is also when a client’s general state of health is determined so as to come up with the most effective treatment plan for individualised treatment.
No matter the issue, Dr Goh always endeavours to find solutions to help her clients to ensure they experience total body wellness for better quality of life.
Some common problems encountered by clients are pain, such as joint pain or pre-menstrual syndrome, which is caused by hormonal changes.
To address these problems, Dr Goh uses acupuncture together with other types of treatment as determined by the client’s needs. She stresses that, contrary to the general perception, acupuncture is just the starting point of the treatment plan.
Balancing the yin and yang
It is a way of stimulating the healing process by balancing the yin and yang of the body. Depending on health condition, different techniques and equipment will be used in a treatment plan.
The acupuncture forms the East component of the treatment plan. This will be complemented with Western components, such as the use of soft laser and phyto-hormones extracted from plants. The soft laser is used to stimulate ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) cells to regenerate and to improve collagen production in the skin for a smoother and clearer complexion, while phytohormones can help post-menopausal women looking for a natural way to balance their hormones. It can also be used to address hormonal breakouts.
Treatment is tailored for both face and body issues with different sets of treatment for each. Myofascial therapy is also incorporated if needed. The combination of treatments can also help balance emotions and behaviour as well as address depression.
Winning the SOBA award justifies all the years of constant hard work and putting clients first.
Dr Goh says, “I didn’t expect to win this award as the industry is very competitive. It was a pleasant surprise and also shows the level of our clients’ confidence and belief in us. After this win, the trust in our services grew and more people have gained awareness on our treatment approach.”
This is truly in line with Doux Visage’s tagline, “Your Satisfaction, Our Assurance”.
In future, Dr Goh hopes to open a treatment centre where clients can opt to stay in for treatments.
“This will allow us to administer more focused treatment, oversee the progress as well as ensure the treatment plan is being followed. This also makes it more convenient for those who are less mobile to attend their treatment sessions,” she says.
Dr Goh adds, “We believe in keeping our focus and to ensure results and consistent quality of service, we keep everything centralised to one centre.”
She adds that this also helps ensure all staff undergo proper training and offer a consistently high level of service.
