The Malaysian International Parenthood Superstore (MIPS) recently opened its doors as a one-stop shop and support centre to assist parents.
Carrying a full range of baby products from more than 100 brands, the store boasts a different experience for parents with a shop-in-shop concept.
The Parenthood Superstore, run by MIPF Expo Sdn Bhd, is located at The School in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.
MIPF chief executive officer Leroy Lee and marketing director Lilian Chan say the shop in Petaling Jaya is the first of three superstores set to open this year.
The company plans to expand to Klang Parade in September, Citta Mall, Petaling Jaya in December and Ipoh Parade in February.
Parents of two, husband and wife Lee and Chan came up with the plan six years ago after their first child was born.
“The idea came about when we found difficulty in identifying a place that houses all baby needs under one roof.
“So we started the Malaysian International Parenthood Fair (MIPF), then expanded to MIPS.
“We are planning in six months to include Malaysian International Parenthood Education (MIPE) as an avenue to teach parents the essentials of caring for their children,” Lee said.
The 15,000sq ft superstore’s layout is divided into categories to provide easier access to customers.
A demonstration area placed in the centre of the shop is set up to show child-friendly environments that are changed every three months.
Aside from offering baby products, Lee and Chan are using their experience with children to provide other first-time parents with a support system.
“When I first became a mother, there was a lot of nervousness because we were not sure about a lot of things, including pre- and post-natal care.
“So that was why we wanted to share knowledge about things like breastfeeding and even cardiopulmonary resuscitation,” said Chan.
The shop has products ranging from strollers to furniture.
Operating hours are from 10am to 10pm daily at The School, Jaya One, No 72A, Jalan Universiti Petaling Jaya.
