MALAYSIA AIRPORTS HOLDINGS BHD’s commercial services arm is expanding its digital footprint via its Facebook (FB) page, Indulge at Malaysia Airports, as part of its commercial strategy to expand its retail outreach beyond the physical confines of its airports.
Since its launch in conjunction with Malaysia Airports’ Indulge Till You Fly (ITUF) Campaign in July, 2013, the page has recorded a steady growth in following with men making up more than half of its followers.
Analytics reveal that while the majority of the followers are Malaysians, the Indulge at Malaysia Airports FB Page also see reasonable participation from Indonesians and visitors from the United Arab Emirates. Many are attracted to postings on travel tips and retailers’ promotions.
The Indulge at Malaysia Airports FB Page offers discount coupons for selected outlets, highlights the latest special promotions on offer from various retailers and travel tips ranging from what to put in your carry-on luggage to how to fake it as a New Yorker. It effectively communicates Malaysia Airports’ commercial products and service offerings globally, underscoring the role of its international airports as lifestyle destinations.
Since September 2013, the number of ‘likes’ on the Indulge at Malaysia Airports Facebook page has jumped exponentially — more than 250%! — an indication of growing awareness and interest in the airport operator’s commercial activities.
Malaysia Airports’ Indulge Till You Fly Campaign is an annual special campaign created to reward travellers handsomely for shopping and dining at its international airports.
Participants of the campaign need to spend a minimum of RM250 at any F&B or retail outlets at the five international airports.
With that amount, they will be eligible to take part in the Indulge & Win Contest and are entitled, automatically, to instant cash shopping vouchers worth RM10. MasterCard holders will be given the privilege to double their entries and shopping vouchers.
Shoppers can redeem their shopping vouchers on the spot at one of the 40 Indulge & Win e-kiosks located throughout the five international airports.
All they have to do is to scan the receipts of their purchases and personal details; answer a question related to the campaign; and redeem their RM10 shopping vouchers on the spot.
Information captured at the e-kiosks will be uploaded to an off-site server that will randomly select a monthly winner for RM10,000 in shopping vouchers. Seven indulger prizes will be given out throughout the campaign period.
The grand prize winner of RM1,000,000 and the opportunity to shop round the world will also be selected by the computer from the pool of participants.
Malaysia Airports’ 2013/2014 ITUF Campaign will be held from until Feb 28 at all international airports — KLIA/LCCT-KLIA, Langkawi International Airport, Penang International Airport, Kuching International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
