OPR expected to hold steady

BANK Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) decision to maintain the overnight policy rate (OPR) at 2.75% during its latest meeting this week wasn’t a surprise, given the latest economic data.

The soft July headline inflation figure of 1.2% and the 4.4% economic growth recorded in the first half of 2025 strongly indicates that the central bank will hold the rate steady for now.
