Gopeng raises RM180mil green sukuk

KUALA LUMPUR: Gopeng Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary GBS Green Sdn Bhd has raised RM180mil from the first tranche of its Asean Green Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) sukuk wakalah programme.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Gopeng said the sukuk forms part of a larger Islamic medium-term notes programme of up to RM500mil in nominal value, established on March 6, 2026.

“The issuer successfully completed the first issuance of Tranche 1 Asean Green SRI Sukuk Wakalah amounting to an aggregate of RM180mil in nominal value,” it said.

Gopeng said proceeds from the sukuk will be utilised for syariah-compliant purposes, including financing and refinancing eligible green projects, as well as covering construction and development costs and meeting reserve requirements.

It said the proceeds will also be used to defray programme-related fees, expenses and financing costs, as well as to support working capital needs. — Bernama
