Coastal Contracts JV receives EWI

PETALING JAYA: Coastal Contracts Bhd has announced that a consortium comprising its Mexican joint venture company, Coastoil Dynamic SA de CV, Sistemas Integrales de Compresión SA de CV and Nuvoil SA de CV has received an emergency work instruction (EWI) from Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the Mexican state-owned petroleum company.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the shipbuilding company said the EWI was issued pursuant to Pemex’s emergency exception process.

“Pemex advised that gas flaring at the Ixachi Field has resulted in an emergency situation requiring immediate action to reduce the gas flaring.”

In view of the emergency situation, Coastal Contracts said it was not feasible to conduct the timely standard open tender procedure.
