Genting Plantations unit fined RM96.6mil by Indonesian authorities


KUALA LUMPUR: Genting Plantations Bhd said its 95%-owned indirect subsidiary, PT Susantri Permai (PT SP), has been imposed an administrative fine of 396 billion rupiah (about RM96.6mil) by Indonesia’s Forest Area Enforcement Task Force.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the plantation group said the subsidiary received an interim notice from the task force, formally known as Satuan Tugas Penertiban Kawasan Hutan, and has already made the required payment.

“PT SP has made the necessary remittance as at the date of this announcement. The interim notice is awaiting finalisation from the authority,” Genting Plantations said.

Genting Plantations rose two sen, or 0.39% to RM5.16 at 2.46 pm.
