KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Construction Group Bhd
's (SunCon) net profit surged to RM83.78 million for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2025 (3Q 2025), from RM46.47 million in the same period last year, mainly driven by data centre and in-house projects.
Revenue for the quarter jumped to RM1.45 billion from RM865.33 million previously, supported by growth in both the construction and precast segments.
"The construction segment reported revenue of RM1.39 billion and pretax profit (PBT) of RM123.1 million, compared to revenue of RM831.8 million and PBT of RM68.5 million reported in the corresponding quarter of the preceding financial year.
"The growth was primarily driven by the accelerated progress across several data centre and
in-house projects, which led to higher profitability,” SunCon said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
The group also recorded its best nine-month performance to date, achieving revenue of RM4.32 billion and PBT of RM362.9 million for the period, compared to revenue of RM2.12 billion and PBT of RM162.4 million in the same period last year, largely due to growth in the construction segment.
In a separate statement, SunCon managing director Liew Kok Wing said the positive performance reflects the group’s strong execution capabilities in the Advanced Technology Facilities segment.
He noted that this is underpinned by SunCon having delivered over 144 megawatt (MW) data centre capacity and currently managing eight ongoing projects for major global technology corporations.
"Looking ahead, SunCon continues to strengthen its presence in the Advanced Technology Facilities segment, while remaining focused on large-scale civil and infrastructure projects, as well as in-house projects from the Sunway Group.
"This balanced mix supports a diversified and sustainable order book. Overall, the group remains
confident of delivering positive earnings for FY2025, backed by a healthy order book, strong financial position and proven execution capabilities,” he added.
The group also declared a 29.25 sen dividend, comprising a third interim single-tier dividend of 6.25 sen and a special dividend of 23.0 sen. - Bernama
