Heineken says Malaysia beer sales up in 3Q25

Heineken said Malaysia’s beer volume grew by a low-single-digit, performing ahead of the market.

PETALING JAYA: Netherlands-based Heineken NV, which holds a 51% indirect stake in Heineken Malaysia Bhd, has revealed that Malaysia’s beer volume grew by single digit in the third quarter of 2025.

“Malaysia’s beer volume grew by a low-single-digit, performing ahead of the market,” it said in a statement on Bursa Malaysia.

The statement comes ahead of Heineken Malaysia’s financial report for the third quarter and nine months ended Sept 30, 2025, which will be announced on Nov 6.

At Budget 2026, the government announced that it would be raising alcohol excise duty by 10% from Nov 1.

RHB Research in a recent note said the last increase took place in March 2016 when it was rebased from excise per litre of beverage to excise per litre of alcohol in beverage.
