MACC freezes Rohas Tecnic and subsidiaries' bank accounts

PETALING JAYA: Rohas Tecnic Bhd (RTB) stated the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has frozen and seized certain bank accounts that belong to it and subsidiaries, HG Power Transmission Sdn Bhd (HGPT) and Rohas-Euco Industries Bhd (REI).

MACC did so under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA).

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, RTB stated the orders to freeze and seize were issued as part of a MACC investigation concerning a contract entered into by HGPT in 2015, prior to RTB's acquisition of HGPT in 2017.

RTB added the MACC’s investigation is isolated and it is not related to the group's other businesses or contracts.

"The Board is treating this matter with the utmost priority and the Company reaffirms its commitment to the highest standards of integrity, transparency and governance across all levels of the Group's operations," RTB stated in the filing.
