Capital A chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes

TAN Sri Tony Fernandes, the chief executive officer of Capital A Bhd., is in early stage talks to acquire a stake in Vietnam Travel & Marketing Transports JSC, according to people familiar with the matter, as the aviation group looks to expand its presence in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian nation.

Discussions center around Malaysia-based AirAsia taking a small interest in Vietravel, as it is more commonly known, considering Vietnam caps foreign ownership of carriers at no more than 34%, the people said, asking not to be identified because the details are private.
