Maybank fully redeems RM2.3bil subordinated sukuk Murabahah


KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) announced that it has fully redeemed the RM2.3 billion Subordinated Sukuk Murabahah on its first call today.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Maybank said that the sukuk was issued on Oct 9, 2020, pursuant to the Sukuk Programme of up to RM30.0 billion, which was upsized from RM10.0 billion in nominal value.

The Subordinated Sukuk Murabahah was established to fund the banking group’s investments in ringgit-denominated and foreign currency-denominated Islamic financial instruments,  funding of Islamic business activity and other Shariah-compliant business activities. - Bernama
