NexG Bhd executive chairman and group chief executive officer Datuk Hanifah Noordin
PETALING JAYA: NexG Bhd has secured a letter of award from the Ministry of Home Affairs to supply Malaysian International Passports with a ceiling value of RM1.728bil premised on an estimated production of 3 million units per year for six years.
In a statement, the group said the contract that was won by its subsidiary, Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd builds on its existing role as the supplier of Malaysian passports since 2016.
Executive chairman and group chief executive officer Datuk Hanifah Noordin said they were glad for the continued trust of the government.
“This long-term mandate underscores our commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and world-class passport solutions. Beyond meeting today’s needs, it positions NexG to support the country’s aspirations in security, digitalisation, and international mobility,” Hanifah said.
Meanwhile, for the first quarter ended June 30, 2025, NexG posted a lower revenue of RM88.45mil compared to RM90.75mil for the same period last year.
The group said the decrease was on the back of lower supplies of smartcards, passports and personalisation services.
Its profit for the quarter, however, was higher at RM64.87mil compared to RM27.02mil posted in the same quarter a year ago, mainly due to fair value gain on other investments.
Moving forward, NexG said national priorities in digitalisation, public sector reform, and secure identity infrastructure are expected to drive demand for integrated, technology-driven solutions.
“NexG is pursuing collaborations with strategic partners and public-private partnerships (PPP) to broaden offerings, accelerate adoption, and expand into selected international markets. In parallel, the group continues to manage its quoted investments strategically to generate returns, provide liquidity, and support growth.”
