KUALA LUMPUR: Coming off a strong quarter, Maxis Bhd affirmed its full-year guidance for low single-digit service revenue growth and flat to low single-digit earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) growth.

"We will continue to strategically invest in our network and offerings to enhance our integrated capabilities and meet evolving customer needs," said Maxis CEO Goh Seow Eng in his results announcement.

He added that the telco's 2Q result demonstrates continued resilience, driven by a disciplined focus on operational excellence.

"This includes driving greater efficiency and reliability through digitalisation and AI to enhance and automate processes, including network optimisation."

During the quarter under review, Maxis posted a net profit of RM398mil, up from RM356mil in the year-ago quarter. Earnings per share rose to 5.1 sen from 4.6 sen in the comparative quarter.

The group reported revenue of RM2.56bil in 2QFY25, which dipped slightly from RM2.59bil in 2QFY24.

Over the six months to end-June 2025, Maxis' net profit rose to RM769mil from RM709mil in 1HFY24 while revenue was slightly lower at RM5.17bil against RM5.19bil in the year-ago period.

The board of directors declared a second interim dividend of four sen per share, going ex on Sept 9, 2025, and payable on Sept 25, 2025.

According to the telco, quarterly service revenue was flat at RM2.2bil due to the continued impact from the change in commercial arrangements for the company's device protection programme.

The change, which was first announced in 1Q25, is expected to affect year-on-year (y-o-y) comparisons for the remainder of the year.

Owing to the commercial arrangements as well as lower interconnect rates, Maxis' consumer mobile service revenue dropped 1.3% y-o-y to RM1.54bil.

The group's mobile subscriptions grew 2.8% y-o-y to 9.81 million due to enhanced data plans in the postpaid segment.

In the consumer home segments, which comprises fibre broadband and home solar solutions, service revenue rose 1.2% y-o-y to RM254mil in tandem with a 1.4% increase in total home connections to 788,000.

Meanwhile, the enterprise business maintained growth momentum with a 1.5% rise in service revenue to RM407mil, driven by higher mobile subscriptions alongside growth in fixed and solutions revenue.

Maxis said it recorded a capex of RM165mil, prioritising investments in fibre infrastructure that enhance its integrated network capabilities and continued focus on targeted upgrades to its mobile network to meet capacity requirements.

Its operating free cash flow stood at RM929mil with a cash balance of RM688mil as of 2Q25.
