PetGas unit awarded NFP, NSP licences

The company said said Linkaran’s fibre infrastructure will serve as a critical enabler for Malaysia’s growing digital ecosystem.

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Gas Bhd’s (PetGas) wholly owned unit PG LinkaranFibre Sdn Bhd (Linkaran) has been awarded network facilities provider and network service provider licences by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

PetGas said the construction activities commenced in July 2025, with initial services expected to be available by the first quarter of financial year 2027.

“This regulatory milestone marks a pivotal step in the company’s strategic growth, enabling the development of a secure and scalable fibre optic backhaul infrastructure to support both internal operational requirements and strategic ventures into new businesses,” it said in a statement yesterday.

The gas infrastructure and utilities giant said Linkaran’s fibre infrastructure will serve as a critical enabler for Malaysia’s growing digital ecosystem.

“The project is expected to attract long-term investment by offering strategic connectivity in addressing diverse digital demands, including proximity to data centres, integration with telecommunication providers and opportunities for cross-border connectivity,” it said. — Bernama
