KUALA LUMPUR: ZHH & Robin LLP China and Mohamed Ridza & Co (MRCO) from Malaysia have signed a landmark cooperation agreement to enhance cross-border legal services between the two countries.

The agreement was formalised on May 23 in Chongqing, China, and marks a significant deepening of strategic collaboration between the two firms.

ZHH & Robin LLP managing partner Eagle Yang and MRCO managing partner Mohamed Ridza Mohamed Abdulla signed the deal, the firms said in a joint statement.

"The partnership builds on years of trust and cooperation developed through the LAWorld international legal alliance, and reflects a shared commitment to delivering seamless, high-quality legal services across jurisdictions, particularly amid rising economic integration driven by the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor,” it said.

The statement said the cooperation will include joint initiatives on legal talent development, client service innovation and knowledge exchange. Both firms will also share office infrastructure and administrative resources to streamline operations and strengthen a unified working environment.

"This agreement represents a forward-looking step in cross-border legal cooperation.

"We are excited to deepen our collaboration with MRCO and jointly support the legal needs of businesses navigating the China-Malaysia corridor,” said Yang.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Ridza added, "Our partnership with ZHH reflects our shared vision of delivering world-class legal services through innovation, cultural understanding and professional excellence.”

Joint promotional campaigns and secondment programmes are also planned to foster legal expertise and practical experience across both markets.

Ahead of the signing, ZHH & Robin LLP hosted a two-day seminar on May 21-22 in Chongqing and Chengdu.

The event brought together legal professionals and corporate leaders to discuss cross-border investment trends, regulatory compliance and legal risk mitigation strategies across ASEAN.

The alliance underscores the growing role of legal partnerships in facilitating regional trade, investment and legal harmonisation across Asia. - Bernama
