Yoong Onn reports fire at Singapore subsidiary's factory and warehouse


KUALA LUMPUR: Yoong Onn Corp Bhd has reported that a fire broke out at the factory and warehouse of its 60%-owned subsidiary, T.C. Homeplus Pte Ltd, in Singapore on May 9.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the incident occurred at a two-storey industrial building on Tampines Street 92 in the afternoon.

The home linen and bedding accessories retailer said the fire was brought under control, and no human casualties were reported.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force’s operations are ongoing and investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.

“Currently, the company has yet to ascertain the full financial and operational impact and consequences of the fire,” Yoong Onn said.

The board will provide updates on any new developments and significant financial or operational impacts to the group.
