Keyfield disposes of AWB for RM55mil

Keyfield International Bhd group chief executive officer Datuk Darren Kee Chit Huei.

PETALING JAYA: Keyfield International Bhd is disposing of Keyfield Lestari, an 11-year-old four-point mooring accommodation workboat (AWB) to Saraf Corp India Pte Ltd for RM55.4mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Keyfield said the agreement is expected to be completed in June 2025 and will coincide with the completion of Lestari’s current charter to another customer in India.

Keyfield group chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Darren Kee Chit Huei said the disposal comes at an opportune time as the vessel is already actively deployed in the region, reinforcing the group’s international expansion.

“The disposal is intended to unlock Lestari’s value, bringing in a profit of approximately RM28mil to the group.

“It is part of our fleet renewal and enhancement strategy as Lestari has relatively lower specifications compared to our other AWBs.

“The proceeds from the disposal will be utilised for working capital and/or to finance the acquisition of other vessels, which the group will continue to carefully assess and evaluate.”
