KUALA LUMPUR: Scientex Packaging (Ayer Keroh) Bhd
says the global market outlook remains challenging but it is committed to enhancing its competitiveness and driving a sustainable performance in the current financial year.
In the second quarter ended Jan 31, 2025 (2QFY25), the plastic packaging manufacturer posted a net profit of RM9.35mil, up from RM8.02mil a year earlier, for an improved earnings per share of 2.66 sen against 2.28 sen previously.
The group reported revenue of RM183.87mil, up from RM175.85mil in 2QFY24.
Scientex Packaging said the increase in revenue was mainly due to higher sales in its export market.
Export sales contributed RM81.62mil or 44.4% of the group revenue whilst domestic market contributed the balance RM102.25mil or 55.6% of the group revenue.
"A better sales mix and improved operational efficiency also contributed to the performance for the quarter under review," the company added.
Over the six months period, the group registered a lower net profit of RM12.25mil compared to RM15.72mil in 1HFY24 due to the negative impact of foreign exchange losses.
Revenue, however, rose to RM363.16mil from RM348.82mil in the previous corresponding period.
