Reserve assets touch US$116bil at the end of last year


Bank Negara also reported net short forward positions of US$29.23bil as at end-December 2024.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s official reserve assets amounted to US$116.22bil, while other foreign currency assets stood at US$4.5mil at the end of 2024, according to Bank Negara.

In its statement, the central bank noted that pre-determined short-term (12 months) outflows of foreign currency loans, securities and deposits – including scheduled government external borrowings and the maturity of foreign currency Bank Negara Interbank Bills – will amount to US$10.6bil.
