MRCB inks JV to develop Melaka hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd's (MRCB) wholly-owned subsidiary MRCB Land Sdn Bhd has entered into a joint venture with Melaka Corp subsidiary PM Multilink Sdn Bhd to develop a hospital in Bukit Baru, Melaka Tengah.

The JV company, called Majestic Quest Sdn Bhd, will be 70% owned by MRCB Land, with the remaining 30% held by PM Multilink.

In a statement, MRCB said the hospital would be subsequently leased to Putra Specialist Hospital (Melaka) Sdn Bhd.

Phase 1 of the hospital will span eight acres and have an estimated gross development cost of RM520mil.

It will encompass a multidisciplinary facility with specialised “Centres of Excellence” for Cardiac and Orthopedic services.

The hospital will have 300 beds with provision for future expansion. There will be about 100 consultant suites, allocated by discipline, together with space for ancillary services such as Laboratory and Pathology.

Future phases of Hospital Putra’s development will introduce complementary facilities such as a hotel, retail and commercial areas, a rehabilitation and wellness centre, an aged care centre, hostels, and serviced residential units.

“Hospital Putra represents a significant milestone in Melaka’s journey to becoming a premier medical tourism and healthcare destination.

"This development aligns with our vision of fostering economic growth and enhancing the well-being of our citizens," said Melaka Corp chairman Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh.

MRCB group managing director Datuk Imran Salim added that the joint venture reflects MRCB’s commitment to address the growing healthcare needs of the community while contributing to the economic growth and development of Melaka.
