GLOBAL financial markets have felt the ripples of Donald Trump reclaiming the White House following his US presidential election victory. While the outcome raises fresh uncertainties around trade policies, China’s ambitious fiscal and monetary stimulus package emerges as a key factor set to influence the outlook for Asian fixed-income markets.

Murray Collis, chief investment officer, fixed income (Asia ex-Japan) at Manulife Investment Management, states, “Uncertainty surrounding the new administration’s trade policies should initially pressure Asia; however, we are also likely to see resilience and opportunities across Asian fixed-income markets.”
