Two Globetronics EDs resign on the same day

PETALING JAYA: Two executive directors (EDs) of Globetronics Technology Bhd, one of whom is the chief executive officer (CEO), resigned on the same day citing personal reasons.

The resignations of Heng Charng Yee and Kang Wei Luen took place slightly over a month after Lembaga Tabung Haji and the Employees Provident Fund ceased to be substantial shareholders, following the surprise resignation of the auditor KPMG.

Globetronics, an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test player, told Bursa Malaysia that 40-year-old Heng had resigned as the ED effective yesterday.

She will also be stepping down as the CEO on Dec 31, after serving notice on her resignation.

Heng will be replaced by Yip Wai Chee effective Jan 2, 2025.

The 56-year-old Yip is currently the chief operating officer of Globetronics.

“The board of Globetronics extends its heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Heng Charng Yee for her valuable contribution to the group,” the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Kang has also resigned as the ED effective yesterday.

Interestingly, Kang had held the position for barely nine months since his appointment in February this year.

Globetronics’ share price has more than halved this year, following unfavourable news flows.

Shares of the cash-rich company with zero borrowing fell by 1.52% yesterday to 65 sen.
