Pertama Digital tumbles 38%, short selling suspended

KUALA LUMPUR: Pertama Digital Bhd’s share price plunged on Tuesday, prompting Bursa Malaysia to suspend intraday short selling (IDSS) for the remainder of the day given the more than 15% decline from the reference price.

The digital services provider hit limit down, falling 30 sen, or 38.22%, to 48.5 sen with 3.01 million shares traded at midday. The counter has lost almost 82% so far this year.

“The short selling under IDSS will only be activated the following trading day, Wednesday, Oct 9, at 08:30 am,” Bursa Malaysia said.

On Oct 3, Pertama Digital stated that it was unaware of the reasons behind the recent dip in its stock price but assured stakeholders that it remains strong and well-positioned for sustainable growth.

It noted that in recent months, the company successfully reversed its previous quarter’s negative results, with new product lines making a marked contribution to performance.
