Jobless rate stable at 3.3% in June

The Statistics Department said the country’s labour force remained in a positive growth trend.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s unemployment rate in June remained unchanged from the preceding month at 3.3%, according to the Statistics Department.

Positively, the total number of unemployed individuals in June declined to 565,300 from 566,100, the government agency noted.

In a statement, it said the country’s labour force remained in a positive growth trend, with a marginal increase in the number of employed persons, while the unemployed continued to decrease following the expansion of the economy.

The number of people in the labour force continued to increase, rising to 17.17 million from 17.15 million in May 2024, with the labour-force participation rate improving to 70.4% from 70.3%.
