KUALA LUMPUR: Capital A Bhd, MN Holdings Bhd (MNHB), Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N), CTOS Digital Bhd, Pentamaster Corp Bhd, YTL Hospitality Real Estate Investment Trust (YTL REIT), Pekat Group Bhd, Mitrajaya Holdings Bhd, Asdion Bhd and GHL Systems Bhd are among the stocks to watch on Friday.

Capital A has submitted its extraordinary general meeting (EGM) circular to Bursa Malaysia for the proposed disposals of its entire equity interest in AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd (AAAGL) and AirAsia Bhd (AAB) to AirAsia X Bhd (AAX).

MNHB’s wholly-owned subsidiary, MN Power Transmission Sdn Bhd (MNPTSB) has secured a contract worth RM86mil from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

F&N net profit rose 22.4% to RM121.63mil for the third quarter ended June 30, 2024, from RM99.37mil a year ago, when there were one-off non-operating items.

Pentamaster’s net profit fell 15.87% to RM19.9mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2024, from RM23.65mil a year ago.

CTOS Digital Bhd’s net profit gained 20.7% to RM25.5mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2024, from RM21.13mil a year ago, thanks to higher contribution from all customer groups, namely key accounts, commercial and direct-to-consumer.

YTL REIT reported a 9.7% increase in net property income (NPI) for its fourth quarter ended June 30, 2024, rising to RM65.8mil from RM59.9mil a year earlier, driven by higher contributions from both the hotel and property rental segments.

Pekat Group is buying a 60% stake in Apex Power Industry Sdn Bhd for RM96mil.

Mitrajaya’s wholly-owned subsidiary Pembinaan Mitrajaya Sdn Bhd has clinched a contract worth RM37.91mil for the construction of a four-storey building with one level of sub-basement car park in Kuala Lumpur.

Asdion has been classified as a Guidance Note 3 (GN3) company after its external auditors, CAS Malaysia PLT, flagged material uncertainty that would affect the company’s ability to continue as a going concern.

Payment service provider GHL Systems is set to be delisted next week, following a successful takeover by NTT Data Japan Corp (NTTD Japan).

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.21%, to 40,347.97, the S&P 500 lost 1.37% to 5,446.68 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 2.30% to 17,194.15.

Apex Securities anticipates the local bourse to remain flat due to negative sentiment from the global market.

It said the lower liners will likely move similarly to the key index due to tepid trading appetite.

Apex said today’s key economic focus would be the US unemployment rate and factory orders.

“Given the rise of volatility risk in the market, we advocate investors turn defensive and focus onto gold-related stocks on renewed Fed cut bets,” it added.
