KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian banks showed steady profitability in their financial results in the first quarter of 2024 (1Q 2024) in line with expectations but the upside is limited going forward, said RAM Rating Services Bhd (RAM Ratings).
The credit rating agency said the average pre-tax return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) of eight selected local banks under its review registered 1.37 per cent and 13.8 per cent, respectively, for the quarter (1Q 2023: 1.38 per cent and 13.9 per cent).
