THE rise in healthcare costs and health insurance premiums of late has put increased focus on whether universal health insurance coverage is truly the way to go.

Concerns of the present system, highlighted in the Health White Paper (HWP), which was tabled in Parliament in June last year, appear to be related to the sustainability of government financing of public healthcare.
