BANK Negara’s Monetary Policy Committee meeting will be from May 8-9, with economists expecting the central bank to maintain the overnight policy rate (OPR) at 3%.UOB Global Economics and Markets Research expects no change to OPR at 3%.UOB thinks it should remain because of the expected delay in US Federal Reserve rate cuts, ongoing risks to Malaysia’s inflation, and softer-than-expected advance gross domestic product growth in the first quarter of 2024.
