AirAsia unveils strategic focus on enhancing S’pore-India connectivity

SINGAPORE: AirAsia, which just celebrated two decades of operations in Singapore, is poised to elevate guests’ travel experiences with an extensive network expansion to 12 dynamic cities in India, facilitated by its seamless Fly-Thru connecting service.

According to AirAsia Singapore chief executive officer Logan Velaitham, the Indian market expansion stands as one of the airline’s core focuses as a group this year, driven by popular demand.

“Through our Fly-Thru service, we seamlessly connect travellers from Singapore to India and vice versa, bolstering arrivals into Changi Airport,” he said when unveiling the strategic focus on enhancing connectivity from Singapore to India.

“This enables access to AirAsia’s extensive network of over 130 destinations with a convenient short-stop in Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok (Don Mueang), without the need to collect or re-check in baggage during transit,” he added.

Logan noted that Singapore and India shared a robust and multifaceted relationship that extends across tourism, economic, political and cultural dimensions.

“Positioned as India’s eighth largest trade partner, Singapore serves as a pivotal gateway for Indian businesses seeking expansion into South-East Asia, while India offers Singapore abundant opportunities in technology and innovation.

“Additionally, leisure travel between both destinations is highly sought after.

“We are dedicated to providing our guests with more travel options, facilitating seamless connections through our expanding Fly-Thru service and network expansion in the future,” said Logan.

To further enhance travel opportunities between Singapore and India, AirAsia has introduced its Free Seats promotion, highlighting four cities in India – Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, Trivandrum and Ahmedabad.

The Free Seats campaign is at zero-base fares, excluding airport taxes, fuel surcharges and other fees.

Guests eager to explore the wonders of India can take advantage of promotional fares from as low as S$173 one-way with one-stop in Kuala Lumpur or low fares from S$223 for flights via Bangkok.

Flights are available for booking from Feb 19 until Feb 25, 2024, for travel between Sept 1, 2024 and June 18, 2025.

The promotional fares only include airport taxes, fuel surcharges and other fees. — Bernama
