Varia secures RM94.86mil flood mitigation contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Varia Bhd has secured a contract worth RM98.86mil to undertake the Klang River Flood Mitigation Project in Seksyen 25 Shah Alam.

The construction and property developer, in a statement, said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mewah Kota Sdn Bhd secured a letter of award from Kator Construction Sdn Bhd for the project.

The project is set to commence on Feb 1 with a completion timeline extending to Dec 31, 2029.

Managing director Datuk Benson Lau said this project not only showcases its commitment to technical excellence but also reflects its dedication to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

“By addressing critical flood risks in Shah Alam, we're not just enhancing infrastructure; we're also safeguarding communities and nurturing environmental stewardship. This initiative is a clear manifestation of Varia's ethos to intertwine our growth objectives with the well-being of society and the planet.”
