StanChart sees the ringgit gaining from a rise in commodity prices in 2024 and a recovery in electronics demand.
PETALING JAYA: The ringgit and Indonesian rupiah are expected to be outperformers in the region in 2024 “on a relative basis,” benefiting most from monetary policy divergence, says Standard Chartered (StanChart).
“In terms of relative performance, we expect the rupiah and ringgit to outperform and the Philippine peso to underperform; we are relatively neutral on the Singapore dollar, Thai baht and Vietnamese dong,” the bank said in its global research report.
