Trading ideas: MSC, Aemulus, Barakah, Pertama Digital, Sunview and Bioalpha


KUALA LUMPUR: Companies with recent corporate announcements include Malaysia Smelting Corp, Aemulus, Barakah, Pertama Digital, Sunview and Bioalpha, said Apex Research.

Malaysia Smelting Corp Bhd (MSC)’s 2Q23 net profit declined 28% to RM28.45 million.

Aemulus Holdings Bhd has incurred its third straight quarterly loss as net loss widened to RM6.9m.

Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd secured a contract from Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd for the SPM2 replacement project at an undisclosed value.

Pertama Digital Bhd is seeking a 12-month extension until Aug 9, 2024 to submit its regularisation plan.

Sunview Group Bhd has been selected to be solar power producers under the Corporate Green Power Programme.

Bioalpha Holdings Bhd’s founder, chief executive officer and managing director Hon Tian Kok has ceased to be a substantial shareholder in BTM Resources Bhd after disposing of 35.51 million shares or a 2.83% stake.

Overnight, the US market declined after Moody’s downgraded the credit rating on several regional banks.

Similarly, European markets dropped after Italian banks were surprised by windfall tax. Investors will be waiting for consumer price index data from China later today and the US tomorrow.

On the local market, the FBM KLCI rose 5.19 points or 0.36% to 1,451 points.

"Following last week’s pullback, the FBM KLCI could take a breather and consolidate below the resistance of 1,460 points following uncertainties ahead of the state elections," said Apex.
