NEW YORK: Bain Capital is seeking to raise US$4bil (RM17.7bil) for a new global “special situations fund” as the US firm sees an opportunity to snap up distressed and equity investments, two people familiar with the matter say.

Bain Capital kicked off the fundraising at the start of the year and has already raised about US$2bil (RM8.8bil) for the new fund, said the sources, who requested anonymity as these discussions are confidential.
