Bank Negara reserves slip to RM509bil


“The reserves position is sufficient to finance five months of imports of goods and services,” the central bank said.

KUALA LUMPUR: The international reserves of Bank Negara amounted to US$114bil (RM509.5bil) as of March 15, down marginally from US$114.3bil (RM510.8bil) as of Feb 28.

“The reserves position is sufficient to finance five months of imports of goods and services,” the central bank said in a statement.

Bank Negara said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$101.7bil or RM454.5bil), International Monetary Fund’s reserve position, special drawing rights, gold and other reserve assets.
