KUALA LUMPUR: Citi Malaysia is committed to a well-balanced and diverse workforce in creating an inclusive work environment and will continue to maintain a strong and diverse talent base at all levels.

"At Citi, International Women's Day is an opportunity to honor the contributions of women and the role they play in defining the progress and future of the firm.

“At Citi Malaysia, women comprise 63% of the workforce, and 54% of our assistant vice president (AVP) level employees and above are women,” Citi Malaysia chief HR officer Tooba Modassir.

In conjunction with this year's IWD celebration, Citi Malaysia hosted its International Women's Day Flagship event with a fireside chat with Sarina Sundara Rajah, former national rhythmic gymnast, and Commonwealth and Sea Games gold medalist.

Sarina spoke to over 100 Citi Malaysia employees on embracing resilience and equity, in line with this year's IWD theme of embracing equity.

Sarina is also the president of Safe Sport Malaysia, and actively advocates for a safe sports environment in Malaysia.

Speaking on her work at Safe Sport Malaysia, she said there were many challenges when it comes to changing stakeholders' mindsets and getting them to speak up on how to protect athletes better.

Citi Malaysia is active in championing and supporting employees having created a Women's Network- the Diversity Advocates.

Launched in 2017, the network's principal focus is to develop its women talent both professionally and personally. and equip them with the skills and knowledge to help them grow with the organisation.

The Diversity Advocates champions Citi's policies in support or gender equality as well as assist women colleagues through challenges and opportunities faced both at home and at the workplace through coaching, mentorships, and networking opportunities.

Citi has also opened doors for women around the world through its community development efforts.

Globally, Citi is making continued progress on efforts to bring more diversity to Citi at all levels.

In 2022, Citi announced that it had exceeded its global three-year representation goals to increase women leadership globally at the firm.

Representation at the AVP to managing director levels for women increased to 41.1% in Asia Pacific at the end of 2022. Citi aims to boost global representation of women in AVP to managing director levels to 43.5% in 2025 from the current 40.6%.
