All eyes on transparency

Manohar Johnson: Both the MRT3 and the expressway widening projects can be a catalyst for socio-economic growth, creating job opportunities for the rakyat.

WITH Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim having mentioned at the retabling of Budget 2023 that the procurement of the flood mitigation project is to be executed via open tenders, all eyes are now on whether the same process would be extended to other mega projects in the country, such as the Mass Rapid Transit 3 (MRT3).

Anwar has even gone as far as saying that the Finance Ministry intends to publish the tendering process and its results in the media for public viewing, a suggestion that would indeed break new frontiers as far as transparency levels are concerned.
