KUALA LUMPUR: South-East Asia remains as the fastest growing digital economy in Asia-Pacific and needs comprehensive cybersecurity solutions as well as the right talent to manage their defences.

Kaspersky general manager for South-East Asia, Yeo Siang Tiong, said governments here have been taking bold steps to support local digitalisation efforts and to beef up their respective country’s data protection and cybersecurity capabilities.

However, he said it is crucial for a parallel need in comprehensive solutions as local businesses in the region embrace digital transformation.

“For our part, we have been actively partnering with local universities to provide training and workshops to upskill students and to ensure their curriculum meets current industry demands.

“However, it will take years for these students to become cybersecurity professionals,” he said. — Bernama
