T7 consortium wins KLIA baggage handling system contract

KUALA LUMPUR: T7 Global Bhd’s subsidiary, T7 Kemuncak Sdn Bhd, being part of Siemens T7 Consortium has secured a contract to upgrade the baggage handling system (BHS) at Terminal 1 KL International Airport.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the energy solutions provider said the contract from Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd involved the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a state-of-the-art BHS.

The new BHS will feature the efficient Siemens Logistics VarioBelt, belt conveyor. With VarioStore, Terminal 1 is receiving a modern early bag store (EBS) that will give the airport a storage capacity of 2,500 bag positions, which is higher than the current storage capacity.

The EBS enhances the processing of transfer baggage and allows passengers to check in earlier.

It did not disclose the value of the contract. The contract is for a period of three years from Nov 4, 2022 to Nov 3, 2025.

“The board envisages that the award will contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the company for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023 to 2025,” T7 said.
