Trading ideas: Sapura Energy, SCIB, Bermaz Auto, Scientex, Cypark


KUALA LUMPUR: Apex Securities expects Sapura Energy Bhd, Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB), Bermaz Auto Bhd, Scientex Bhd, Cypark Resources Bhd, and Ranhill Utilities Bhd to be among the stocks to watch on Friday.

Sapura Energy has returned to the black for 3QFY23 with a RM10.18mil net profit.

SCIB shareholders have refused to approve the payment of directors’ fees and benefits at its AGM.

Bermaz Auto’s net profit soared to RM65.67mil in 2QFY23.

Scientex’s net profit for 1QFY23 rose year-on-year to RM107.18mil.

Cypark and its indirect subsidiaries have been awarded feed-in approval certificates by the SEDA for a period of 21 years.

Reneuco Bhd (formerly known as KPower Bhd) has inked a joint venture agreement with the Terengganu government for the development of a mixed housing project in Kuala Nerus with a GDV of RM292.76mil.

Ranhill’s unit bagged a RM15mil contract for the provision of detailed design engineering services for the Rosmari-Marjoram gas project’s solar power offshore platform.

Overnight, the US market surged overnight to end its losing streak after higher jobless claims would reaffirm investors that the Federal Reserve would raise interest rates by a smaller scale of 50 basis points next week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 183.56 points, or 0.55%, to settle at 33,781.48. The S&P added 0.75% to finish at 3,963.51 while the Nasdaq Composite rallied 1.13% to end at 11,082.00

Earlier, European stocks ended lower following concerns over global economy.

“Following the rebound in Wall Street, the FBM KLCI could bounce off its support of 1,465 points,” Apex said.
