Perodua sales up 5% in third quarter

KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd’s (Perodua) auto sales rose by 5% quarter-on-quarter to 69,011 units in the third quarter of 2022 (3Q22) as supply chain bottleneck issues improved.

According to a statement by Perodua, sales rose by 64.9% to 196,354 units for January to September 2022 compared with 119,093 units sold in the same period last year.

Perodua is focusing on increasing sales in 4Q22 and boosting production in 1Q23 to ensure customers who had booked their vehicles during the sales tax exemption period will receive their car on or before March 31, 2023.

As of June 30, 2022, the automaker said the number of outstanding bookings eligible for the sales tax exemption stood at above 200,000 units.
