KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has unveiled the CIMB ESG-SME Pitch Challenge to help empower sustainability-focused small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through a fundraising event platform.

With the theme ‘Financing the Transition’, the CIMB ESG-SME Pitch Challenge is designed to expose promising SMEs to potential funders to boost their businesses and chart their next phase of growth.

The top 10 successful participants will be selected to have the opportunity to pitch their businesses and raise funding of up to RM10 million from equity investors, the bank said in a statement.

CIMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad said the CIMB ESG-SME Pitch Challenge is part of the group’s flagship The Cooler Earth Sustainability Summit, which plays a dual role as the latest initiative in expanding CIMB’s support for the empowerment of SMEs in the region while encouraging sustainability innovation among ASEAN entrepreneurs.

CIMB’s The Cooler Earth Sustainability Summit will be held from Sept 20-24, 2022.

The hybrid summit aims to convene global experts, business leaders, financiers, investors, and policymakers to encourage greater discourse on sustainability and shape a more sustainable future. - Bernama
