Mitsubishi Motors upbeat about sales in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MMM) remains optimistic about the sale of its vehicles in the country in view of the improved consumer sentiment as the economy continues to recover from the effects of the pandemic.

Chief executive officer Shinya Ikeda observed that even during the lockdowns and when the Covid-19 pandemic situation got worse with new variants emerging, the demand for Mitsubishi vehicles has remained on an uptrend until now.

“Malaysia is a unique country in the Asean region with people who like to enjoy outdoor activities and the government has done a good job too in lifting consumer confidence.

“In the first half of 2022, Mitsubishi Motors sold 4,820 units of Triton, a 44% increase compared with the same period in 2021,” Ikeda said during the launch of the Mitsubishi Triton – Phantom plus edition here yesterday.Limited to 1,000 units and available only in jet black mica, the new model is “designed to elevate customers’ urban lifestyle and passion for the outdoors,” the automaker said in a statement.

The vehicle is priced at RM139,700 per unit in Peninsular Malaysia – on-the-road and without insurance for private registration and comes with a warranty of five years or 200,000km, whichever comes first.

For Sabah, it is priced at RM141,700, Sarawak (RM141,750), Langkawi (RM131,902) and Labuan (RM134,353). — Bernama
