EPR Mobilus GR JV secures RM1.4bil contract


The contract involves the supply of the rolling stock, which is hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) vehicles, depot equipment and maintenance vehicles, signalling and control system as well as the automative platform gate.

KUCHING: EPR Mobilus GR JV Sdn Bhd has secured the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project’s System Package 1 contract worth RM1.42bil.

The contract involves the supply of the rolling stock, which is hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) vehicles, depot equipment and maintenance vehicles, signalling and control system as well as the automative platform gate.

Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa handed over the letter of award to EPR Mobilus GR JV directors Syahrir Iman Suib, Chan Chee Kian and Wilson Fan here yesterday. The joint-venture company partners are EPR (Kuching) Sdn Bhd, Mobilus Sdn Bhd and Global Rail Sdn Bhd.

At the same event, Sarawak Metro also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with property developers Ibraco Bhd and Naim Holdings Bhd’s subsidiary Peranan Makmur.

The MoU is on the collaborations to develop ART stations near their property development projects – The NorthBank (along Kuching-Samarahan Expressway) and Kuching Paragon (along Jalan Batu Lintang) – respectively.

Ibraco was represented by its group managing director Datuk Chew Chiaw Han and Peranan Makmur by its director Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Julai.
