KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to become a preferred partner to Japanese engineering consultancy firm Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd (OC Global).

The engineering and project management consultant, in a statement, said HSS and OC Global would collaborate on potential infrastructure projects in Asean, India and any other country including in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

HSS said both parties would prioritise activities in the transportation sector (particularly rails and mass transit), water resources and supply management, flood mitigation, as well as roads, highways and bridges.

Both parties are currently collaborating since 2021 to provide construction supervision services for the North-South Commuter Railway Extension project in the Philippines, the first airport railway service in the country that links Clark International Airport to cities in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

HSS executive chairman Tan Sri Ir. Kuna Sittampalam said its fruitful cooperation with OC Global in recent years has become a stepping stone for HSS’ emergence as the first Malaysian-based engineering consultancy firm to form this preferred partnership.

“One of the primary areas of our cooperation would be to spearhead and accelerate the implementation of JICA-funded infrastructure development projects in Asean, India and MENA.

“Hence, this win-win partnership leverages on HSS’ existing track record and network in the said regions, as well as OC Global’s long-standing working relationship with JICA,” he said, adding that the partnership with OC Global represented a significant milestone in its regional expansion plan.
