SC unveils new management team

PETALING JAYA: The Securities Commission (SC) has announced four new senior appointments as it aims to build a more relevant, efficient and diversified capital market.

The capital market regulator appointed Datin Azalina Adham as its executive director of the newly created business group strategy and policy.

In a statement yesterday, it noted that Azalina would leverage her vast experience in the financial and capital markets.

“Azalina will help drive the SC’s strategic direction in a number of critical areas including corporate planning, risk management and international relations to further develop the capital market,” it said

The SC has appointed media and communications specialist Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid as executive director for the strategic communications and chairman’s office with a primary role of sharpening the SC’s engagement and communication strategy with key stakeholders. It appointed Wong Huei Ching as executive director for digital strategy and innovation.

“Her appointment serves to further the potential of digital and innovation towards shaping a capital market that is more inclusive and sustainable for businesses and investors.

“Wong joined the SC in 2017 and has led several key functions such as corporate planning and strategy. She was instrumental in the development of the Capital Market Masterplan 3,” it said.

In addition, the SC has appointed Budiman Lutfi Mohamed. as its new director of enforcement. “This is in line with a long history of appointments to the SC from the Attorney-General’s Chambers. Budiman will lead the SC’s investigation, prosecution and civil enforcement work,” it said.

As announced on April 29, Yew Yee Tee and Shamsul Bahriah Shamsudin will assume their new roles as general counsel and director, intermediary and fund supervision respectively.

Yew will provide leadership on policy, legal and strategic advisory support of all internal and external legal matters involving the SC while Shamsul Bahriah will be in charge of the authorisation and licensing, and supervision of market intermediaries,

“Their combined wealth of knowledge and experience, drawn from the public and private sectors, will further strengthen the SC’s capabilities and effectiveness to promote market growth and integrity in a rapidly evolving environment that embraces sustainability, competition, and innovation,” SC chairman Datuk Seri Awang Adek Hussin said of the new appointments.

All appointments will take effect on July 1.
