AirAsia to reduce CO2 emissions via flight operations optimisation solution

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia will install an innovative aircraft software modification known as Descent Profile Optimiser on its A320ceo aircraft starting from this month to generate fuel savings and significantly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The low-cost carrier said the enhancement to the onboard Flight Management System (FMS) performance database allows the aircraft to optimise the descent phase of the flight, which subsequently minimises the amount of time spent at an inefficient level off.
