On firmer footing

RAM Rating Services Bhd senior economist Woon Khai Jhek said he foresees the domestic economy staging a rebound on most fronts, riding the positive momentum of the country’s high vaccination coverage and ongoing vaccine booster rollout.

PETALING JAYA: The country’s economy is expected to stage a rebound by next year amid the potential threat of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 which may delay the recovery.

The stronger economy, economists said, would be fuelled by the continued recovery in the domestic economic activities coupled with the high vaccination rates. Most economists expect the gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by between 5.6% and 6.8% in 2022.
