PETALING JAYA: Semiconductor equipment billings for North America-based manufacturers jumped 53.1% to US$3.59bil in May 2021 (three-month average basis), according to the May Equipment Market Data Subscription (EMDS) Billings Report published by SEMI.

The billings figure is 4.7% higher than final April 2021 billings of US$3.43bil and 53.1% higher than May 2020 billings of US$2.34bil.

“May billings of North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers continue their trajectory of remarkable growth,” SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha said in a statement.

“Semiconductor equipment investments continue to register record highs as the industry takes steps to address near-term manufacturing capacity constraints.”

The SEMI billings report uses three-month moving averages of worldwide billings for North American-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers. Billings figures are in millions of US dollars.
