North America semicon equipment makers post record growth in April


SEMI said in a statement on Monday the April billings had jumped by 49.5% from the billings of US$2.28bil a year ago.

KUALA LUMPUR: North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers posted US$3.41bill in billings worldwide in April 2021, based on a three-month average basis.

The Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers Industry (SEMI) said the billings figure was 4.1% higher than final March 2021 billings of US$3.27bil.

SEMI said in a statement on Monday the April billings had jumped by 49.5% from the billings of US$2.28bil a year ago.

It said the billings data were according to the April equipment market data subscription (EMDS) billings report.

SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha said April billings of North America-based semiconductor equipment marked the fifth consecutive month of record growth.

“Equipment manufacturers continue to log steady growth as the industry works to meet accelerating demand for semiconductors across a wide range of end-market segments, ” he said.
